We need you to help us grow the food economy in East Baltimore.
When you make a gift of $500 or more after January 1, 2018, you may be eligible to receive a Maryland Community Investment Tax Credit (MCITC) equal to half the value of your donation.
The MCITC will lower your tax liability dollar-for-dollar up to 50% of your contribution to ACT. And it is in addition to the deductions on both Federal and State taxes as a result of the charitable contribution.
The State of Maryland awarded American Communities Trust (ACT) $50,000 in CITC tax credits to give to major donors by December 31, 2019. CITC tax credits are equal to 50% of the value of the donated money, goods or real property.
CITC eligibility
Businesses and individuals can reduce tax liability while supporting ACT’s development of the Baltimore Pumphouse.
Businesses:
Any entity that conducts a trade or business in the State and is subject to State income tax on individuals or corporations, the public service company franchise tax, or the insurance premiums tax.
Individuals:
Individual residents of Maryland are eligible if domiciled in Maryland on the last day of the taxable year OR if (1) maintaining a place of abode in Maryland for more than six months of the taxable year AND (2) physically present in the State for 183 days or more during the taxable year.
Businesses and individuals must use the tax credits against taxes owed for the year in which the contribution was made; they may not be used retroactively for taxes from a prior year.
For more information, please visit the Community Investment Tax Program website.
How to apply
Donors are required to complete and return a simple two-page form to ACT.
American Communities Trust has a limited number of tax credits to provide to donors. Please notify ACT’s Director of Development, Cailin McGough, at 240-707-1515 or cailin@actimpact.org with your intent to participate to confirm that tax credits are still available.
